Little Rascal playhouses developed their range by paying particular attention to craftsmanship and finer details. The Tinkerbell is modular, so you can decide which side of the playhouse the window panel is fitted, left or right, depending on which suits your garden.
The windows and doors have been designed and manufactured based on a “cassette” concept. This means that all windows are built separately and then inserted into the main panels of the playhouse. This enables us to paint the windows and doors individually, before final installation, with three coats of paint giving a better finish. A small gap allows for natural expansion around the edges to keep the elements out of the playhouse.
The system allows the window frame to sit proud of the main outer panel’s edge, giving better protection against the elements and a great look.
Our wooden fascia boards have been engineered with rounded edges that are smooth before receiving our standard, high-quality, 3-coat finish to ensure durability. This helps protect the playhouse, ensuring your childs enjoyment of their playhouse in your garden for years to come.
Your child’s safety is our most important consideration. Whilst the playhouses meet the requirements of EN71 regulations, Little Rascals have gone ‘the extra mile’ for the door hinge and closure to ensure it’s safe.
Ventilation is important inside any playhouse, especially on those warmer days & nights. The common solution is two drilled holes in the wall of the playhouse. However, we have installed ‘made to measure’ discs, which we feel are more pleasing to the eye.
We have also paid the same attention to detail and quality inside each playhouse.
All the edges on the mainframe have been rounded, planed and smoothed for extra protection and finish, thus avoiding any sharp or rough edges.
The roof is made from the same timber as the walls and floor (tongue & groove), giving a better finish whilst matching the rest of the interior. The standard finish usually uses ‘chipboard’ or ‘ply’ in the same way as a garden shed, but we feel this look is much better.
The Process:
Every playhouse ordered from Little Rascals is individually manufactured, painted and wrapped for protection before delivery.
Once your order is placed, an email will be sent to you advising that your order has been passed over to the production department, where our skilled artisans will manufacture your playhouse.
After it has been manufactured, it is sent to the painting department to start the painting process. At this point, you will receive another email. Keeping you updated along the way.
The painting of your playhouse is a 3 stage process. Firstly, the wood is given light sand down before a water-based, white wood primer is applied. Once this is dry, two coats of your chosen colour are applied using water-based, opaque paint.
Opaque paint will give a solid colour finish to enhance your playhouse completely.
Once the paint department is satisfied that the finish is up to the quality expected of Little Rascals Playhouses, it is sent for packing and dispatch. At this point, you will receive another email notification of this, keeping you updated all along the way of the different processes.
Each panel and part is individually protected with the relevant packaging materials to ensure that the playhouse arrives to you in the condition that it leaves our production and dispatch warehouse.
*Sometimes, it is inevitable that some of the paintwork may get bumped or scratched either during transit or, most likely, as it is being assembled. For this reason, a free pot of touch-up paint is supplied with every playhouse dispatched.
