We’ve looked at some of our favourite toys from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, so now let’s look even further back to a time before video games, the 1960s. Here we pick out of top five. Do you remember these?

Easy Bake OvenEasy-Bake Oven
For years, young chefs have been able to learn their trade with this iconic toy, even Monica in Friends, although she did complain “it is unreasonable to expect a child to wait for a lightbulb to cook brownies!”

Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots
This popular two-player game featured a pair of robots, one red and one blue. They would stand in a boxing ring and players would control them, making them punch each other. If one of the punches hits in the right place, the other robot’s head extends back, signifying the end of the round.

Etch A Sketch
Launched at the peak of the baby boom in 1960, Etch A Sketch lets you draw anything, using the two knobs in the bottom corners. You can then erase it and start again. Great fun!

Ken
Although Barbie was launched in 1959, it wasn’t until 1961 when she met the love of her life, Ken Carson. The son of Dr. Carl Carson and Edna Carson, over the years Ken has had multiple different occupations. He even made an appearance in Toy Story 3.

Battleship
Originally a pen and paper game dating back to World War 1, this was launched as a plastic board game in 1967. The game is played using two grids for each player. Each player arranges ships and records the shots made by opponents. On the other, the player records their own shots. The aim of the game is to shoot all of your opponent’s ships.
